Purpose statement

The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking applicants for the position of Manager, User Experience in the Information Technology department which will serve as a member of the leadership team within the Innovation and Information Division.

The Springfield School District is Missouri’s largest public school district and has built a reputation of academic excellence based on the outstanding performance of our students and schools. About 25,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.

The job of Manager, User Experience is done for the purpose/s of managing the delivery of high quality, cost effective end user support services for business and academic software; managing and directing the activities of the software support team in installation, support, and monitoring of software quality and effectiveness; providing leadership in the evaluation, selection and support of software; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards. Essential Functions

 Collaborates with district, community, and external resources to explore new technologies for the purpose of evaluating the impact of these technologies on district policies and instructional practices..

 Collaborates with internal and external personnel on the integration of technology into high quality instruction, blended learning, and professional development for the purpose of providing stakeholders with engaging, personalized, and authentic learning opportunities.

 Collaborates with blended learning and curriculum departments for the purpose of providing high quality support in the development and implementation of software systems.

 Coordinates the implementation and management of software systems for the purpose of efficient and effective use of resources and success of implementations.

 Designs training opportunities for software support staff (e.g. software skills, professional capacity, delegation, etc.) for the purpose of creating a highly skilled and engaged staff to provide excellent customer service.

 Leads the improvement of technology usage for the purpose of utilizing existing, new, and changing technologies.

 Leads the development of a user centered technology environment for the purpose of enhancing user satisfaction with technology.

 Participates in meetings, workshops and/or trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

 Prepares a wide variety of reference, presentation, policy and administrative materials (e.g. plans, budgets, funding requests, reports, analyses, recommendations, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, requests and issues; providing audit references, and/or meeting compliance requirements.

 Promotes the use of constant stakeholder feedback for the purpose of improving technology use experiences.

 Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. District end users, administration, department heads, etc.) for the purpose of resolving problems and/or providing information.

 Supervises assigned personnel (e.g. Help Desk, site technician, dispatch technical staff, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring timely, professional and effective support of user devices

Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements (Minimum Qualifications) Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Security and compliance policies that affect K12 educational agencies, user centered design for human computer interaction, enterprise software systems, information system management and data integration between information systems, continuous improvement models for both information technology and business operations such as (ITIL, CQI, etc.), various computing platforms such as Microsoft Windows and Server operating systems, Apple OSX and iOS operating system and Google Chromebook and Android platforms, current programming languages and development practices such as Agile software development. SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: project management, collaboration across multiple business and educational units, exceptional written and verbal communication, intellectual curiosity to continually improve and update skills, team leadership, development and management; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; developing effective working relationships; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering personnel policies and procedures. ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is significant.

Experience Job related experience within specialized field is required. Education Bachelors degree in job-related area, required Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
